After transitioning out of the Birdhouse and back into a stationary home, Brandon spent time in Eureka California fixing a historic Craftsman home nestled in the redwoods.

Severely neglected for many years, the kitchen and house were in dire need of repair. As an avid home cook, and entertainer, the kitchen was to be a focal point of the house. The design pulls from traditional craftsman kitchens of the era, with a central island featuring the cooktop, storage, and countertop seating. With the primary stair to the second level exiting into the kitchen, the island also served to separate the circulation from the primary work stations of the kitchen. Integrated into this central element is an induction cooktop, helping keep the island a safe landing zone at all times. This central island is a reference to the classic rectory or butchers table, in lieu of the solid grounded casework of modern designs.

When moving in the house was in dire need of a paint job, with a boarded over window, and decades old flaking brown paint. Brandon Personally built a new custom wood window for the dormer window (which also served as my work from home office).

With the exterior color selection the goal was to bring in some vibrancy, and sense of whimsy to contrast with the often foggy skies of the Humboldt coastline.
